Zane Elvador Mitchell, 85, of New Paris, was called home by the Lord on February 26 , 2020.

He was born on August 25, 1934, in Weyant, to the loving mother Arlene (Ickes) Mitchell.

On June 18, 1955, he married Shirley (Robertson) Mitchell.

He Is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Orlo Claycomb and Byron Mitchell; grandsons, Ryan Mitchell, Drew Mitchell and Darin Smith.

He is survived by his children, Gary of New Paris; Jeffery husband of Janet (Gergely) of Schellsburg; Judy Larrow wife of Lou of Alum Bank; Cindy Smith wife of Allan of Osterburg; Greg of New Paris; nine grandchildren, Nathan Claycomb husband of Kylee (Brothers) of East Freedom; Jason Shippey husband of Gillian (McCorkle) of Davidsville; Jared Shippey husband of Lori (Connelly) of Warriors Mark; Joshua Mitchell husband of Meagan (Custer) of Bedford; Matthew Shippey husband of Amanda (Price) of Clear Spring, Md; Marlena Metz of Bedford; Gregory Mitchell of New Paris; Theresa Mitchell of Providence, RI; Brendon and William Mitchell of New Paris; and 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Weaverling, Phyllis Imler, Shirley Mock, and Janet Lindsay.

Zane attended Juniata College, he finished his career as an Industrial Equipment Sales Engineer at M. Glosser and Sons in Johnstown.  He was a true family man.  He showed his love and support and compassion to all. He told stories often of his grandchildren’s accomplishments with a tear in his eye. He loved to hunt and be outdoors. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Friends and family will be received on Sunday, March 1st from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home. The funeral will be held on Monday, March 2, at 11 a.m. at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home.

Interment will be held at the Fishertown Cemetery.
