William J.(Chick) Riegel Jr.
New Paris
William J. (Chick) Riegel Jr., 75, of New Paris, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2018 with his family by his side at the UPMC Passavant Hospital.
He was born on July 9, 1942 in Brooklyn, NY; son of the late William”Willy” Riegel and Allene (Mock).
On August 29, 1975, he married Diane L. (Romanow) Riegel.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, William J. Riegel III; and sister, Roberta Riegel.
He is survived by his wife; children, Johnny, Laurie, Jeannie, Cindy, Lauralene, Roni, Roberta, Robert, Jerome, Christopher, Tina, and Scott; 24 grandchildren; 18 great- grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth “Dolly” Taylor; and Dianna “Sis” Feathers.
William was affiliated with the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church. He was in the Marines during the Vietnam War. He spent most of his time driving truck. William enjoyed hunting, gardening, working with the Scouts, Western’s on TV, running Pine Wood Derby’s, and most of all he loved his many grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday July 12, at 10 a.m. until the hour of the memorial service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Daniel Oldham officiating at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home.
Military Rites accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
Interment at the Bedford County Memorial Park.
