Thomas J. Stiffler, 80, of Weyant, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at UPMC Altoona.
He was born on December 21, 1943; son of the late John and Agnes (Helsel) Stiffler.
He married Dorothy Davis on October 6, 1965; she preceded him in death on January 3, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; and sister, Rena Berkey.
Thomas is survived by son, Rick and Michele, step-daughters, Toni Singer and Debbie (Larry) Weist, who he raised as his own. Step-grandchildren, Stacy de las Alas; Wade Biddle; Nathan Weist; step-great grandchildren, Avery and Quincy de las Alas; Breanna Biddle; Sawyer and Dutton Weist. Brothers, Sheldon (Marlene) and David.
Thomas retired from Cove Shoe factory in Martinsburg, with more than 50 years of service. In his retirement he enjoyed taking care of his cats, flea markets, auctions, mowing with his turnpike tractors, and talking and telling stories about his life.
He was a workaholic. He worked all day at Cove Shoe and worked as a mechanic at night. Thomas was a self-taught mechanic by working on his 57’ Chevy, which he drove more than 550,000 miles. He had the ability to repair or build anything.
Special thanks to Toni who made sure he made it to all his doctor appointments and treatments.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
