Steven P. Hauer
Pavia
Steven P. Hauer, 57, of Pavia, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at the UMPC Altoona Hospital, holding the hands of his devoted wife Priscilla Hauer, and his sons, just as they had held his hand every day during his illness.
The son of Philip L. and Lois (Canner) Hauer, Steven was born in Minneapolis, MN on August 7, 1957. He and his brother and sister grew up in Richfield, MN while spending many memorable summers camping, from the Great Lakes to Maine.
He graduated from Richfield High School in 1975 and from Hennepin Technical College in 1977 with a degree in cabinetmaking.
On August 28, 1982, he married Priscilla (Davis) Hauer, and moved from Minnesota to Pennsylvania, where they settled and raised their family.
Steve loved the outdoors, and imbued a healthy sense of adventure on his sons, lovingly nurturing their individual ambitions, while instilling them with strong family values that will hold them together through anything.
Steve was a loving friend who took pleasure in helping everyone. He was a master of ingenuity, bringing an inquisitive and practical approach to every carpentry project and hobby. He loved investigating things and figuring out a better way to do them. His effortless craftsmanship was admired by everyone.
He worked at Moments with The Book in Bedford, PA, since 2005, and took great pride in having a hand in sending Christian literature to the far reaches of the world.
Steve was a member of the Bible Truth Hall Church in Queen, PA. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His death is a deep and impossible loss, but those who knew him are comforted in knowing that he left an indelible mark on many, through his faith, strength, kindness, and constant smile.
Survivors include his mother Lois; his wife, Priscilla of almost 33 years; sons, Seth Hauer and partner Davin Michaels of Los Angeles, Nathan and wife Tealea Hauer of Pavia; brother, Ken and wife Angie Hauer of Switzerland; sister, Linda and husband Dale Bartosh of New Bloomfield, MN; two grandchildren, Aiden and Colton.
He was predeceased by his father, Philip.
Steve’s funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home in Alum Bank, PA.
Burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery in Pavia, PA. Reception to follow.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home.
