Shirley Mae Mitchell, 87, of New Paris, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Rebecca’s Personal Care Home.

She was born on April 3, 1936 in Hyndman; daughter of the late Bruce and Josephine (Smith) Robertson.

On June 18, 1955, she married Zane Mitchell, who preceded her in death on February 26, 2020.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Zane; grandsons, Ryan Mitchell, Drew Mitchell, and Darin Smith; 3 brothers, Stanley, Tom, and Bill.

She is survived by her children, Gary of New Paris; Jeffery husband of Janet (Gergely) of Schellsburg; Judy Larrow wife of Lou of Alum Bank; Cindy Smith of Fishertown; Greg of New Paris; nine grandchildren, Nathan Claycomb husband of Kylee (Brothers) of East Freedom; Jason Shippey of Johnstown; Jared Shippey husband of Lori (Connelly) of Warriors Mark; Joshua Mitchell husband of Meagan (Custer) of Bedford; Matthew Shippey husband of Amanda (Price) of Clear Spring, Md; Marlena Metz of Bedford; Gregory Mitchell of New Paris; Theresa Mitchell of Texas; Brendon and William Mitchell of New Paris; and 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Fred Robertson of Buffalo Mills.

Shirley attended Faith Brethren Bible Church. She worked at the Chestnut Ridge Supermarket for 20 years. She was a homemaker and nanny for many years. Shirley loved to travel and loved country music. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, August 8th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home and on Wednesday, August 9th from 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor James Espenshade officiating at the Faith Brethren Bible Church.

Interment will be at the Fishertown Cemetery.
