Senior Airman and loving son Devin Lee McDonald, 25 years old, went to be with our heavenly father on Sunday, June 12, 2022. He is survived by his father Galen McDonald II of Imler and mother Marjorie Leap of Buffalo Mills; his sisters Marlee McDonald of Tyrone; Marissa McDonald of Bedford; and Madelyn Lynch of Buffalo Mills.

Devin is survived by his paternal grandfather, Galen McDonald of Imler and maternal grandparents Don and Lynne Leap of Buffalo Mills. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Sonja McDonald. He is also survived by the following aunts and uncles: Barry and Beverly Leap, Danny and Donna Stillwagon, Jeff and Angelique Walason, Garth and Melissa Campbell and Alicia McDonald and numerous loving cousins.

Devin was born on March 13, 1997 in Altoona, PA. He graduated from Chestnut Ridge High School in 2015. After high school, Devin was employed at Wendy’s in Bedford and worked for George Beckett & Sons. He enlisted in the United States Airforce in 2016. He graduated from Basic Military Training in Lackland Airforce Base in San Antonio, Texas on July 16, 2017. He was deployed and honorably served his country for nine months in Operation Inherent Resolve in Kuwait in 2021. Devin embodied duty and honor to his country and the men and women that he served with. He received numerous accolades, awards and medals during his time of service including Air and Space Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Award, AF Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Air and Space Longevity Service Award and Air, and Space Training Ribbon. He was a dedicated and passionate member of the United States Airforce Honor Guard and he was honored to present the last rites at funerals for servicemen and women and their families. Devin was stationed on Shaw Airforce Base in Shaw, South Carolina in the 20th Fighter Wing, 20th Mission Support Group, 20th Security Forces Squadron where he served as Instillation Patrolman.

Devin exemplified what it meant to live as a witness of Christ, always helping and serving others and was known as a loyal friend that everyone could count on. Devin was known by all for his enormous heart, caring spirit, witty humor and contagious smile. He was a talented songwriter and loved heavy metal music. He loved weight lifting and going to the gym with his friends. He was a car enthusiast, member of numerous car clubs and one of his great joys was his 2016 Mustang GT. He was exceptionally proud of his recently purchased home in Dalzell, South Carolina. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends will be received at Weyant United Methodist Church in Osterburg, PA on Saturday, June 18 between 12- 4 pm and 5-9 pm and Monday, June 20, from 10-11 am. A funeral service is scheduled on Monday, June 20 at 11 am at the Weyant United Methodist Church in Osterburg, PA. Pastor James Golla and Pastor James Neatrour will be officiating.

Interment and full military rites will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park following the funeral services.

In lieu of fresh flowers, family is requesting planters and plants. In honor of Devin’s passion for cars, family and friends are encouraged to bring antique and show cars to the funeral service.

A memorial service will also be held at a later date at Shaw Airforce Base in South Carolina.
