Sara Beryl (Imler) Mowry, 97, of Osterburg, passed away Friday, October 30, 2015 at The Village at Morrisons Cove.
She was born on July 1, 1918 in the Juniata section of Altoona, the daughter of the late Sewell and Clara (Colebaugh) Imler.
She was married to Stanton Mowry who preceded her in death on March 1, 1967.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Stanton; companion, Ken Lear of East Freedom; son, William S. Mowry; infant granddaughter, Lisa Gail Mowry; sister, Hazel (Imler) Yantz Deitle; four brothers, Thomas “Clair”, Clifford, Melvin “Jay” Imler, and Charles Donald Imler.
She is survived by a son Gerald and wife Gail (Corle) Mowry of Osterburg; daughter in law Lulubelle (Daugherty) Mowry and companion Eugene Acker of Osterburg; a sister in law Shirley J. (Berkheimer) Imler of Ohio; 5 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
She was a farmer’s wife until the passing of Stanton. Then she got her driver’s license and went to work at Best Form in Windber. Then she worked at Veeder Root Factory in Altoona until her retirement.
Beryl was a graduate of East St. Clair High School. She was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church in Osterburg and a member of the Rebecca Lodge of St. Clairsville.
She liked collecting owls, decorating, doing Word Finds, reading, crocheting, and reading her Bible.
Friends and family will be received at the Trinity Reformed Church, Osterburg Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held Monday, Nov. 2, 2015 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Charlie Miller officiating at the Trinity Reformed Church.
Interment will be held at the Bedford County Memorial Park.
