Robert William Hinson, 69, of Alum Bank, passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at UPMC Bedford.
He was born on February 12, 1949 in Ryot; son of the late Vance Eugene and Helen Eleanor (Race) Hinson.
On May 25, 1974, he married Susan (Hillegas) Hinson.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Clyde and Edythe Hinson; and his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Susan; children, Renae L. Twigg of Weyant; Robert William Hinson Jr. of Hopewell; Misty Dawn Beach of Woodbury; 9 grandchildren, Whitney, Dakota, Kelly, Briana, Laura Lee, David, Derek, Brock, Hunter; 2 great-grandchildren, Trey and Ava; sisters, Linda Wehrung of South Carolina; Joyce Heiple of Alum Bank; and Ann Barker of New Buena Vista.
Bill was affiliated with the Point Church of the Brethren. He was a member of the Pleasantville VFW Post 9219, and the Martinsburg Lock Mountain Coon Hunters Club. He loved his children, and grandchildren and including all those who adopted him as a pap. He enjoyed the outdoors, and loved to hunt and fish. He would never miss any of his children’s or grandchildren's sporting events. He was the owner and operator of R&F Trucking for 30 years, then drove truck for other companies for 10 more years. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, September 13 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday, September 14 at 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home, with his loving brother in law Jim Hillegas officiating.
Interment will be held at the Hinson Family Cemetery.
