Phyllis Griffiths Dregallo

Phyllis Griffiths Dregallo, 89, passed away on July 5, 2018. She

was born on March 28, 1929 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, only child of Weaver Griffiths and Thelma Corle.  

 She attended Johnstown High School graduating with High Honors.  She attended Slippery Rock University graduating Magma Cum Laude.  Phyllis was accepted by Johns Hopkins University Medical School however she chose to follow a career in education.  She married a Marine Corps veteran and began to raise the first of her six children.  Phyllis was the Lower School Director at Fay School in Southboro, Massachusetts.  She taught third grade at Casady School, a coed Episcopal day school in Oklahoma, City, Oklahoma where she was awarded a special prize for her excellence in teaching.  Phyllis is survived by her husband of sixty-eight years, Frank, and their six children, Jamie, Darby, Kim, Frank S., Andrew and Peter; and seven grand-children and five great grand-children.

 A viewing will be held at the Blackburn Funeral Home located in Alum Bank, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM.  The internment will be at the Jenner Crossroads Cemetery, Jennerstown, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Jeffrey Bassette officiating.
