Orville “Dick” H. Hoover, 89, of Alum Bank, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the Hollidaysburg Veteran Home.
He was born on July 29, 1929, in Osterburg; son of the late John and Eva (Wentz) Hoover.
On June 10, 1955, he married Mary (Turner) Hoover.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Blaine, Helen, Vincent, Wilbur, and Cyril.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary of 63 years; children, Eddie D. and wife Lynda Hoover of Bedford; Del and wife Cheryl Hoover of Roaring Spring; Angie and husband David Mierley of Bellefonte, Pa; and Kristen and husband Thomas Hoffman of Clearfield,Pa; eight grandchildren, Amber (Dustin) Thomas; Bryan (Becca) Hoover; Julie (Shaun) Styer; Kayla Ickes; Daniel and Emily Hoover; Krystal Wriglesworth; and Leif Hoffman; three great-grandchildren, Peyton Thomas, Parker Snook, and Reece Thomas; sister, Shirley Carey; and 2 sister-in-laws, Evelyn and Cathy Hoover.
Dick served in the U.S. Army Airborne division. He worked for US Steel, and he drove truck for Eazor Express Trucking. Dick was a member of the Teamsters. He later retired from Kennametal. He loved his community for more than 60 years; he enjoyed serving on the Borough Council. He was a member of the Liberty Bible Church in Bedford. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Friends and family will be received on Sunday, Jan. 13, from 11 a.m. until the hour of the funeral service at 2 p.m. with David Greenwood officiating at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home.

Internment at the Fishertown Cemetery.
