Nevin V. Barefoot Sr.
Alum Bank
Nevin V. Barefoot Sr., 81, of Alum Bank, went to be with the Lord on October 31, 2015 after losing his battle with lung cancer. He passed peacefully away at home with his family by his side.
He was born on June 15, 1934, in Alum Bank, the son of the late Ward and Eula (Nunamaker) Barefoot.
On Sept. 21, 1957, he married Sandra (Reay) Barefoot.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Viril, Harold, Claire, Leonard, and Nate; also his sisters, Helen and Mary.
He is survived by his children, Nevin (Butch) Jr. and wife Stephanie Barefoot of Alum Bank; Sherry and husband Ralph Mitchell of Alum Bank; Carla and husband Gary Morgart of Alum Bank; Melissa Barefoot of Alum Bank; Chris Barefoot of Alum Bank; Tracy and husband Tom Dunlap of Fishertown; two sisters, Mildred Heming of Alum Bank and Florine Davis of Millmont, Pa; 10 grandchildren, Mistie, Jarod, Christy, Chanda, Cara, McKayla, Blake, Danette, Raeann, and Gage; 9 great grandchildren, Ty, Hailey, Deondre, Natasha, Dominick, Trinity, Zander, Autumn, and Makenzie.
Nevin was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a wonderful grandfather. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He was a practical joker and his story telling is legendary around Alum Bank. He was a proud Army Veteran and will be greatly missed.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015 from 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the God’s Missionary Church, Alum Bank, with Pastor Becky Clark officiating.
Military Rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
Interment will be held at the Pleasantville Cemetery.
