Marian Winifred (Beeler) Burkett, 97, of Weyant, passed away Tuesday morning September 23, 2025 at home with her family around her.
She was born November 14, 1927 in Hopewell, Pa; she was the daughter of the late Samuel Showalter Beeler and the late Leila Eleanor (Browell) Beeler.
Marian married Darl T. Burkett on December 11, 1960 at the church in Pavia.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darl on December 24, 1986; sister, Louise Manspeaker and brother-in-law, Dennis Manspeaker; sister, Joyce Duvall and brother Robert Beeler; and son-in-law, Fred H. Stemmerick.
She is survived by her daughters, Donna (Burkett) Stemmerick; Connie (Burkett) Hoover and husband H. Randall; Suzanne (Burkett) Dibert and husband Jeffrey; sons, Todd Burkett and wife Jean Dunmyer and Jeffrey Burkett; grandchildren, Staci Stemmerick; Courtney (Stemmerick) Hillegass and husband Mike; Shannon (Hoover) Brown and husband Rich; Nikki (Hoover) Gephart and husband Jason; Tyler Dibert, Laura Dibert and Miche’ Burkett; great-grandchildren, Ashton, Addison, Kaiden, Nicolas, Kaileb, Kaisen, and Jace.
Marian graduated from Robert P. Smith High School in Hopewell, Pa, class of 1945 where she was a cheerleader. She worked for 39 years at Lion Mfg. Co. in Everett, Pa, where she was a seamstress. She enjoyed going to the beach and camping with her family and friends, the cottage at Raystown, watching her grandchildren as they grew up, and the time she would spend with her sister, Louise, at Myrtle Beach. Marian and Darl enjoyed square-dancing, belonging to the “Flying Boots and Petticoats” Square Dancing Club. They even traveled to Europe and square-danced on the Eiffel Tower.
The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers, Bonnie Claycomb, Eva Howell, and Peggy Beaujon. They would also like to give special thanks to all from Grane Hospice.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, September 25 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 26 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Terry Feathers officiating at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home.
Interment will be at the Pavia Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mt. Zion Willing Workers, 130 Church Rd. Imler, Pa 16655 in memory of Marian.
