Larry Paul Yarnell, 69, of Alum Bank, passed away on Thursday, June 3 , 2021 at UPMC Altoona.
He was born on December 27, 1951 in Camp Hamilton, Pa; son of Joseph Frank and Melva (Webb) Yarnell.
On July 17, 1976, he married Diane (Allison) Yarnell.
He is preceded in death by his dad, Joseph; and brother, William Yarnell.
He is survived by his wife, Diane; children, Jennifer and husband Fred Kauffman of North Carolina; Jeremy Yarnell of Alum Bank; two grandchildren, Ethan and Elijah Kauffman; brother, Randy Yarnell of Fishertown; sisters, Judy and husband Jim Otto of Everett; and Susan and husband Guy Diehl of Alum Bank.
Larry was a member of the Mt. Union UMC and he was affiliated with the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church. After high school he worked in Rockville, MD with his brother Bill. He later drove truck for his Uncle Paul, Ed Oldham, Pete Miller and Dave Steele. He was self-employed with his own truck for 30 years before retiring. He was also a township supervisor for Lincoln Township.
The last several years took a toll on his health, but his strong faith in God and his love for his family kept him going. His grandsons made him so proud and he loved seeing them grow. Larry’s heart was big and he never met any strangers. He will be deeply missed by his earthly family, but is now resting peacefully in God’s arms.
Friends and family will be received on Sunday, June 6 from 2 to 4 p.m. and on Monday, June 7 from 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Daniel Oldham officiating at the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church.
Interment will be at the Mt. Union Cemetery.
