Joan H. Berkheimer, 79, of Weyant, passed away Monday, May 11, 2015, at Nason Hospital.
Joan was born on July 29, 1935, in Kimmel Township, the daughter of the late Jesse and Helen (Mann) Welch.
She married Sheldon “Bill” Berkheimer in Dec. of 1951, who preceded her in death on February 16, 1984.
She is survived by the following family: three sons, Hubert (Betty) of Queen, Carl (Donna) of New Enterprise, and Roger (Michelle) of Weyant; five daughters: Linda Noll of Roaring Spring, Carol (Chuck) Mallow of Clearville, Judy (Sam) Stiffler of Johnstown, Bonnie Martin of Imler, and Elaine (fiancé Tim Callihan) of Alum Bank; twenty-four grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; brother, Melvin (Linda) Welch and sister, W. Marie Gibbons all of Imler, sister-in-law Veda Welch of Henrietta, and several loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant son, Dale; four sisters: her twin sister Jean Finnegan, Margie Defibaugh, Sarah and Madeline Welch; and two brothers, Jesse (Jr.) and Foster Welch.
Joan worked as a caregiver and housekeeper for several years. She retired from Hedstrom Corp. She was an active member of the Imler Area Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her family and she will be greatly missed.
To honor Joan's wishes, there will be a private service for the family at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home in Alum Bank.
