Obituary

Jeffrey Wayne Young

Bedford

Jeffrey Wayne “Wild Man” Young, 55, Point Road, Bedford, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, October 21, 2022.

Jeffrey was born on April 3, 1967 in Altoona, the second of five children born to Susan (Ramey) Hillegass and the late John William Young Jr.

Jeff survived by his daughter, Amanda Dawn Smith, wife of Bobby Dunmeyer of New Paris, and his 9 grandchildren: Nevaeh, Nevanaeh, Nelyze, Joddan, Jaxxan, Ronan, Jaymazan, Neyhlani and Jhettzan, Dunmeyer.

Jeff is also survived by his mother, Sue (Ramey) Hillegass and fiancé Kenny Wentz of Bedford, and the following siblings: John “Bill” Young III of Osterburg; Jennifer, wife of Chuck Horsh of New Paris; Jeremy Young husband of Dorothy of Breezewood; and Jacob “Jake” Young and fiancé Lisa of Surry, Maine. Jeff also is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great- nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; sister-in-law, Candy (Williams) Young and a nephew, Cody J. Young.

Jeff was employed as a tow truck driver and mechanic for Hickey’s Automotive and towing and when it was previously known as Ressler’s Automotive for numerous years in the same capacity. He owned and operated his own moving business the last couple of years on top of his regular job.

Jeff attended the Chestnut Ridge and Bedford School Districts graduating from Bedford in 1985.

Jeff was always ready and willing to help his family and friends at any given moment. He loved spending time with his daughter, grandchildren, family and friends. He was always running into someone he knew; he would wave, honk, or stop what he was doing and talk for a while. He had his sense of humor and orneriness that was always present. He also enjoyed working on vehicles, motors, hanging out with his friends and being the designated driver while they went to dart tournaments, and getting to ride his Harley. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, October 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home.
