Jay Robert Allison, 80, of Alum Bank, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at his home.

He was born on June 30, 1939; son of the late, Ralph and Eva (Harbaugh) Allison.

On July 12, 1958, he married Lois (Martin) Allison in Winchester, Va.

He is preceded in death by his parents; infant brother; brothers, Earl; Ernest; Clark; Landis; sisters, Mae; Mildred; and Margaret.

He is survived by his wife, Lois; children, Lee and wife Celeste Allison of Orlando,  Florida; Dale Allison of Alum Bank; three grandchildren, Terra Schultz of Green Bay, WI; Jacalyn Allison of Fl; Nathan Allison of Alum Bank; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 1 step great-grandchild; brother, Wayne and wife Josephine Allison; and sister, Lela and husband Leroy Ickes.

Jay completed the 8th grade at Spruce Hollow School and started work at a local grocery store and later at Amick’s Apple Orchard. On February 14, 1959 Jay and his wife moved to Orlando, Fl. He worked at various jobs for several months. In May of 1959 he started working at Martin Company. He worked at various plating companies when he was laid off. In 1969 he took his 10 year retirement benefits from Martin Company. He then worked as Plant Operations Manager at Orlando Plating until 1984.

In November of 1984, Jay and his wife started A.M. Metal finishing and ran the business together along with their two sons for 11 years. Some of their customers were Disney Epcot, Martin Company, Aero space companies, and machine shops. In 1995 he sold the business and returned to Bedford County and bought the farm where he was born and raised.

Jay enjoyed being outdoors, flea markets, and helping others.

All services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Kindred Hospice in Altoona, or your local church, or someone in need.

Burial will be held at the Fishertown Cemetery.
