Harold F. “Bud” Henderson, 88, of Osterburg, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at UPMC Altoona.
He was born on July 31, 1929, in Osterburg, son of the late Clarence and Lillian (Russell) Henderson.
On Aug. 13, 1950, he married Mary J. (Way) Henderson.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joyce Latta; brother, Allen Henderson; two half-siblings, Ned Hammer and Virginia Snyder; and step-brother Jack Claar.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of 67 years; son, H. Lynn and Judy (Grasser) Henderson of New Paris; son, Tim and wife Amy (Slack) Henderson of Schellsburg; 3 grandchildren, Jeremy and wife Kathy Henderson of Alum Bank; Adam Henderson of Philadelphia; Josh and wife Amanda Henderson of Schellsburg; 3 great-grandchildren, Julia Ickes; Alyssa Henderson; Jeremy Henderson; and one great granddaughter on the way.
Bud was a member of the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Osterburg. He was a member of the Everett American Legion Post 8 and a Lifetime Member of the NRA. He served in the Air Force as a staff sergeant from 1948-1952. He graduated from Bedford High School in 1947. He worked for General Refactories in Claysburg and retired from the Fish Hatchery in Reynoldsdale. He loved going to auctions and sales, and enjoyed going to breakfast with all of his friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, Nov. 7 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ken Diable officiating at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home.
Military Rites accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
Burial will be at the Fishertown Cemetery.
