Fred H. Stemmerick
Fred H. Stemmerick, 77, of Pavia, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021 at home.
He was born on September 2, 1944 in Pittsburgh; son of the late William Sr. and Dorothy (Hill) Stemmerick.
On January 5, 1970 in Winchester, VA, Fred married his loving wife Donna (Burkett) who survives him of 51 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Staci Stemmerick and Courtney (Michael) Hillegass; grandchildren, Ashton Hess, Addison Hillegass, Derek (Hannah) Hillegass, Amanda (Seth) Shomo; great-grandchildren, Heath Hillegass, Harley and Chase Shomo; mother-in-law, Marian Burkett; sisters-in-law, Connie (Randy) Hoover, Susie (Jeff) Dibert; brothers-in-law, Todd (Jean) Burkett, and Jeffrey Burkett; and many nieces and nephews.
Fred’s little pup Jak, whom he spent each day with, will miss him tremendously.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Stemmerick Jr., and his father-in-law, Darl T. Burkett.
Fred retired from Champion Home Builders, Claysburg, in 2007 after 27 years. He coached girls summer softball for 13 years. Fred loved spending time with his family and was proud of each and every one of them. He enjoyed being out in his yard and sitting on his porch. He was a huge Pittsburgh Steeler Fan. Fred loved talking to people and telling stories. He always said, “A friend is the greatest gift in the world!” He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, December 9 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 10th at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tim Mock officiating at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home.
