Ethel Mae Deffibaugh
Ethel Mae Deffibaugh, 85, of Osterburg, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Donahoe Manor Nursing Home (ProMedica) in Bedford.
She was born on September 15, 1936 at her home in Everett; daughter of George and Laura (Homler) Bollman.
On November 21, 1962 she married John Irvin Deffibaugh, Jr., who preceded her in death on January 26, 2016.
She is survived by 2 sons, John I. Deffibaugh, III (Julie) and Alan T. Deffibaugh (Kristin); 5 grandchildren, Joshua (Taylor), Jase (Melissa), Jacob (Casey), Milan and Marek; and one great granddaughter, Rylee; Brothers and sisters, Shirley Tuscano, Dorothy Bollman, George Bollman (Linda), John Bollman (Sue) and Darlene Wareham (Terry).
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John, a sister Mary, brothers’ Donald and Samuel (died at birth).
Ethel worked at a movie theater and the A&P Grocery Store in Everett, PA until she married her husband. She then became a housewife, mother and helped her husband in his chiropractic family practice when needed.
She loved canning, baking and traveling. She was a member of the Saint Peter’s Lutheran Church and also a member of the Bedford Moose, VFW, and American Legion. She enjoyed watching her sons and grandchildren playing in their various sports. She loved to play games of chance and visiting casinos.
At Ethel’s request, there will be no public viewing or graveside service. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Burial will be at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
