Elsie Louise Ickes

Elsie Louise Ickes, 91, of Osterburg, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Sept. 8, 2017 at her home.
She was born on August 6, 1926, in Pavia; daughter of the late Laman and Florence (Knee) Ickes.
On June 21, 1952, she married John Ickes who preceded her in death in 1962.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and the following brothers and sisters, infant, C. Mearl Ickes; infant, Ethel Benton; infant, Virgie Ickes; Joe Ickes; John Ickes; Della Leber; Harry Ickes; Shannon Ickes; A. Lucretia Corle; Charles Benton; Chester Benton; Loretta Allison; and Orville Ickes.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas Ickes and wife Debbie of Osterburg; David Ickes of Osterburg; sisters, Estella Jones of Hooversville, Pa; Violet Ickes of Bedford; 2 grandchildren, Derek Ickes of Levittown, Pa; Brittany Deremer and husband Cody of Osterburg; 4 great-grandchildren, Noah and Ashton Deremer; Gabriella and Alexandra Ickes.
Elsie was a member of the Mt. Zion Reformed Church in Pavia. She was a very loving and giving person. She enjoyed cooking, her grandchildren, watching the Pirates, her neighbors, and word puzzles. She loved the Home Nursing Hospice Staff and her caregiver Sandy Whitcomb. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Friends and family will be received on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, Sept. 12, from 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Tim Mock and Pastor John Bennett officiating, at the Mt. Zion Reformed Church.
Interment will be at the Pavia Cemetery.
