Edward A. George, 80, of Schellsburg, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2018 at home, with his loving family by his side.
He was born on May 22, 1938, in South Fork; son of the late Edward Sr. and Goldie (Fleegle) George.
On April 23, 1966, he married Jean (Smith) George.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary George; sisters, Ruth Chizmar and Alice Kay Rivera.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; children, Eddie W. and wife Angela George of Bedford; Kevin A. George of Schellsburg; Angela J. and husband Glenn Snyder of Six Mile Run; three grandchildren, Ashton, Autumn, and Laynie; and sisters, Carol Kohler(deceased husband Tom Kohler); Doris and husband Dave Toma of Windber.
Edward was affiliated with the Faith Brethren Bible Church New Paris. He loved to go fishing with his children and brother in law, Mark. He was a very caring and helpful person. He had a passion for antiquing; he refinished antique furniture. But most of all he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Friends and family will be received on Monday, Oct. 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 30, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Daniel Oldham officiating at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home.
Interment will be held at the Stone Church Cemetery.
The family wanted to give a special thanks to the UPMC Altoona Palliative Care Unit; Dr. Fetsko; and Home Nursing.
