Dr. John I. Deffibaugh Jr., 80, of Osterburg went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at home.

He was born on March 14, 1935 in Osterburg, son of Dr. J. Irvin Sr. and Ruth A. (Waltman) Deffibaugh.

On Nov. 21, 1962, he married Ethel M. (Bollman) Deffibaugh.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel; sons, Dr. John I. Deffibaugh III and wife Julie (McMillen) of Osterburg; Alan T. Deffibaugh and wife Kristin M. (Banasick) esq. of Bedford; five grandchildren, Josh; Jase married to Melissa; Jake; Milan; and Marek.

Dr. John graduated from Bedford High School in1951 at the age of 16. He graduated from Palmer Chiropractic College, Davenport, Iowa in 1955. He also attended Elizabethtown University. John was a lifetime member of the Moose 480. He was a member of the Legion 113 and Fort Bedford VFW 7527. He served Bedford County as a chiropractor for over 50 years. He was known for his helping hands and his quick witted humor. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Friends and family will be received on Friday, Jan. 29, 2016 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home and on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 from 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, with Rev. Donna Wolfinger officiating.

Interment will be held at the Osterburg Cemetery.
