Doris B. (Hahn) Shaffer, 94, of Pavia, PA, formerly from Frederick, MD, passed away peacefully February 20, 2024 at Bedford Skilled Nursing Home after a brief illness. She was born October 4, 1929, Doris Lorraine Beachley & the 4th child of Charles Dewey Beachley Sr and Minnie Frances Nash Beachley of Middletown, Md.
She was preceded in death by late husband’s George Robert Shaffer of Pavia, Pa, 1926-2017 and William Stephen "Bill" Hahn Jr, Frederick, Md, 1911-1981.
Her brothers were Albert Nash, Charles Dewey Jr, Paul Milburn, Emmett Watson; infant sister Kathleen Leilane and 1/2 brother Jim Beachley all deceased.
Doris is survived by 1/2 sister Patricia Shank of Frederick, Md; four children, David Wayne Hahn, Boulder, Co, Stephen Lee Hahn, Tacoma Park, Md, Donna Jean Hahn, Bedford, Pa and Mark Allan Hahn, Pavia, Pa. She has also step children, Janet Weimer, LaVale, Md, Marial Stone, Bedford, Pa. & George Shaffer Jr. Manassas, Va. She is survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Doris was a long-time member of the Church of Pavia and supported the church, the "Angel Meal" program, and the Pavia Veterans Association. She was a long-time employee at the Department of Agriculture, Fort Detrick, Md. where she made and kept many life long friends. Doris was a loving, kind, and gentle soul so full of faith and grace. She was also humorous and would be quick to tell you that "Getting old ain't for sissies!" She would also want it to be said again that after moving to Pavia, Pa, she felt welcome and accepted by the church and community and that she loved the people there. She would call her time in Pavia her reward. For those who knew her she will be forever loved and always missed.
Friends and family will be received at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral home, Alum Bank, from 10 a.m.- 12 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024.
