Donald Berkhimer, 80, of Imler, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at UPMC Altoona Hospital after an extended illness.

He was born on November 24, 1938 in Claysburg; son of the late Guy and Marie Berkhimer.

He was united in marriage on July 3, 1966 to Linda Corle in Pavia. They celebrated 53 years of marriage. He was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife Linda and sons Jason married to Sarah Pittman of Pavia and Scott married to Joy DeSanto of Collegeville , Pa; grandchildren, Jason, Christian, Ryan, and Kaitlyn; sisters, Shirley of Heath, Ohio and Donna of Queen; nieces, Carolyn, Michelle, and Linda of Ohio and nephew Wade Claar of State College.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Merle Prough and a brother in law Jay Imler.

Don graduated from Claysburg High School. He served in the United States Army from 1961-1966. Over the years he worked at Cove Shoe Company and the Altoona Shoe Company. He retired from Champion Home Builders after 43 years of service.

Don was skilled in oil painting and did many paintings for friends and relatives. He loved to watch the old westerns on TV. He attended the Mt. Zion Reformed Church of Pavia.

Friends and family will be received on Monday, November 25 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 26 at the Mt. Zion Reformed Church in Pavia, with Pastor Tim Mock officiating.

Military Rites accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.

Interment will be held at the Pavia Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers, friends and family may make a memorial contribution in memory of Don to Mt. Zion Reformed Church, 130 Church Rd. Imler, Pa 16655.
