Darlene Joyce Sauter
Weyant
Darlene Joyce Sauter, 88, of Weyant, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Bedford Post Acute, formerly Donahoe Manor in Bedford.
Darlene was the daughter of the late Andrew and Helen (Helsel) Clark. She was born in Ashcom, Pa on October 4, 1936. She was marred to the late Darrel Sauter on her 16th birthday in Winchester, WV. They were married for almost 70 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darrel; and by her sister, Florence Herline of Everett; and her brothers, Luther (Jimmy) of Tacoma, WA; Donald of Bedford; and infant Ray Dean.
Darelene is survived by her four children, Joyce, married to Duane Cleveland of Bedford; Cathy, married to the late Robert Foor of East Freedom; Terry of Weyant; and Tom married to Beverly (Oldham) of New Paris; sisters, Marie married to Greg Douglas of Charleston, WV; Alverta (Birdie) married to the late Bill Ritchey of Bedford; and Bonnie married to the late Marshal Shippley of Bedford.
She was the proud grandmother of her 6 grandchildren; Derrick Cleveland and Tara Temple, Matt and Adam Foor, Christopher and Brittney Sauter; she also had 9 great-grandchildren.
Darlene lived her life as a very loving, devoted wife and mother. She worked tirelessly inside the home and outside the home to make sure her family had the best life that she could possibly give them. She was a devout Christian in every way, and her faith in God never wavered. She always said, “Pray about everything, because God can do anything.” She made sure that her family attended Church and Sunday School every Sunday.
No one was a stranger to Darlene. She was very sociable and friendly, and would talk to anyone at anytime. She liked going to Wal-Mart and Fashion Bug to shop and to talk.
Our family wants to thank Joyce Eicher of Osterburg where Mom stayed for a time. We also want to thank Sandra who befriended Mom when she stayed at Joyce’s place. We also want to thank the excellent staff of Donahoe Manor, who cared for her, especially Stacey and Alexis of Hospice. We also want to thank Chaplain Tim Bartholomew who ministered to Mom with his guitar playing, singing, reading scripture, and praying.
A graveside service will be held at the Bedford County Memorial Park on Tuesday, January 14th at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends of Darlene are welcome to come.
