Craig Preston Taylor
New Paris
16 May 1969 - 10 April 2020
Craig Preston Taylor, 50 of New Paris, was tragically lost to us on Friday, April 10, 2020.
Born to Elizabeth A. (Riegel) Taylor and Thomas E. Taylor Sr. in Windber, PA on May 16, 1969.
He was preceded in death by his Father Thomas Sr.
He is survived by his son, Preston Hunter Taylor, and a special friend; Mother, Elizabeth "Dolly" Taylor; Brother, Tom Jr., and children, Alexis and Thomas.
Brother, William, spouse Annette (Weaver) and children, Sandi and Ryan.
Brother, Eric, spouse Lincy (Clark) and children Austin, Shiloh and Gracie.
Craig worked for Pacific Pride Petroleum. He was a tireless, hardworking individual, giving his all to whatever the demands of the task at hand.
Craig worked just as hard at being a good father, encouraging his son, Preston, and taking pride in his involvement athletically in Chestnut Ridge Football.
He was a 1987 graduate of Chestnut Ridge High School, playing football and wrestling.
He continued athletic endeavors as an adult. Craig was a fixture at Blair Bedford Drag Races for 25 years. More recently competing solely at Beaverdale Hillclimbs, mentoring his son Preston and nephew Thomas there.
He was an active member of the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church.
Craig spent 30 years at Blue Knob Ski Resort, as its most valuable employee from the 1980's-2017, working in nearly every capacity at the resort, from the rental shop to Mountain Maintenance Mgr., as well as many years working as a Professional Ski Patroller. He loved being at altitude or airborne, both simultaneously if possible. He was an Elite level Skier, Snowboarder and Motorcycle Professional. He was a third generation Welder, following his Father, Thomas Sr. and his Grandfather Edwin Ray, retired Steel Working professionals, in the craft. As such, he was a dedicated Steeler's fan, as it was in his blood, not just his head and heart.
Craig was a good father, son and brother. He is already greatly missed by his family and friends.
Services will be private; burial will be at the Fishertown Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
