Charles Brown Jr. Obituary

Charles R. Brown, Jr.

Alum Bank

Charlie Brown passed away at his home on September 19, 2020 with his loving wife Tina at his side.

Charlie was born on February 10, 1950, in Somerset, the son of the late Charles R. Brown Sr. and Willa (Lowry) Brown.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Tina (Gabner) Brown, and two sons, Derrick Brown and Devin Brown of Grantsville, Maryland, and a special cousin Kim Saylor of Meyersdale.

Charlie graduated from Berlin Brothers Valley High School in 1968 where as a senior held the lead batting average in baseball.  After high school, he played softball for 20 years.

Charlie loved hunting, fishing, canning tomatoes, and participating in butchering with his friends.

Charlie worked as a union laborer, a member of Local 419, working for Dewey Showalter Masonry for 25 years.  Dewey Showalter often said Charlie was one of his better workers except in hunting and fishing season.

Charlie has some special friends he wanted to mention.  Billy Miller and Eugene Ritchey who helped him to become a better laborer.  Young Dalton Bisbing who Charlie taught to cut wood with a chainsaw which made his dad Roddy mad.  Little Gary Lafferty who knows how much Charlie liked a special horse in Berlin.  Gary Lafferty, Jim Lafferty and Bobby Dull who explained to him what ironwood is.  Darlette Akers and Travis Vance who hate to see him go because Charlie won't be there to walk Darlette down the aisle.  Thank you Eric for your special visits and prayers.

A special heartfelt thank you to the caregivers at U.S. Renal Care Bedford and Grane Hospice Care.

At Charlie's request, there will be no services.
