C. Elvin “Pap” Ickes, 87, of Osterburg, passed away Friday, October 30, 2015 at home.
He was born on Feb. 1, 1928, in Osterburg, the son of the late John Clarence and Laura Vern (Claycomb) Ickes.
On May 6, 1949, he married Lucy Alice (Walter) Ickes who preceded him in death on Feb. 9, 1991.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Lucy; sisters, Helen Corle and Shirley Fisher.
He is survived by children, Alan and wife Linda (Allison) Ickes; Larry Ickes; Gary and wife Lisa (Frazier) Ickes; Tamey and husband Dale Leonard, all of Osterburg; sister, Lorene Cathers of Texas; 18 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and another one on the way, and 2 great great grandchildren.
Elvin was a member of the Weyant United Methodist Church. He enjoyed watching the Cubs play, cutting wood, farming, and his beloved dog Snoopy.
Friends and family will be received at the Weyant United Methodist Church Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held Monday, Nov. 2, 2015 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Gary Blankley officiating, at the Weyant United Methodist Church.
Military Rites will be accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Weyant United Methodist Church, 219 Mock Cemetery Rd. Osterburg, Pa 16667.
Interment will be held at the Claysburg Union Cemetery.
