Beverly Dianne (Allison) Gerula
Lovely
Beverly Dianne (Allison) Gerula, 76 of Lovely, passed away on August 2, 2024, due to complications from open heart surgery.
Bev was born on August 11, 1947, to Clark and Helen (Mickey) Allison in Imler, PA. Her most special memories of her childhood were time spent at Grandma Mickeys farm in Calvary Hollow.
On May 24, 1969, she married Michael Gerula, Jr and just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. They had 5 children; Dustin (Margaret) Gerula of Columbus, OH, Kristy (Bobby) Howsare of Bedford, PA, Bumper (Darren)Holderbaum of Alum Bank, PA, Sherri (Brandon) Crouse of Kennedy, NY and Jo(Bradley) Ickes of Osterburg, PA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Duane Allison and his wife Bev, brothers-in-law; Joe Miller, Burt Yarnell, Paul Yarnell, Paul Allison and sister-in-law Patricia Allison.
She is survived by her siblings; Jean (Ray) Belles, Emilie Miller, Wanda Finnegan, Ron and Brian. Along with her sisters-in-laws; Mary Ann (Toots) Yarnell and Lene Yarnell.
Bev has 21 grandkids and 8 great grandkids. Grandkids: Britani (Mark) Austin, Alexis (Brady) Ford, Andru and Demetrius Gerula, Kayla Brown, Taylor Kinzey, Nicolas Detwiler, Caleb (Kristin), Nathan, Brock, Brent, Lindsay, Samuel and Andrew Holderbaum, Shaylee (Dakoda) Wilson, Valerie, Ashley and Clayton Crouse, Aaron, Sophia and Jeffrey Ickes. Great Grandkids: Kaiden and Raegen Austin, Braylon and Hezekiah Ford, Nova and baby Girl Holderbaum, Myles and Sylvia Wilson.
She graduated from Chestnut Ridge High School in 1965. She held several jobs over the years. Working at the Ridge Market, Owner/Operator of Country Cousins in Lovely, Green Gardens, and then retired from Cannondale.
Her favorite job was being a mom and loving her kids unconditionally. She showed her girls how to can veggies and meats. After many years we finally got her to write down her secret famous pigs in a blanket recipe that she had learned from her mother-in-law. Thus, being able to keep the tradition alive of making them yearly for Christmas.
Nothing, however, could compare to her job as a grandmother. Thirty-four years ago, our mom became mammy. Every grandkid and great grandkid were her “favorite”. She made numerous trips to Ohio and New York to spend time with them. She loved having them at her house to spend the night. Always making sure to have cereal and popcorn on hand for them, which she would never allow them to clean up. Constantly telling us parents that she would spoil them until she couldn’t do it anymore. Her home was always open to them to just stop over and hang out and even get off the bus at her house. Her favorite past time was going to yard sales and thrift stores.
Our mother was a self-proclaimed introvert and so we are following her wishes in not having a viewing or funeral. She will be cremated with her ashes being spread at her grandparents’ farm at a future date. She is already greatly missed by her whole family.
