Myrtle E. Hechler 81, of Alum Bank, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at PennKnoll.

She was born on March 1, 1943 in New Paris; daughter of the late Michael and Amber (Miller) Dull.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Jane (Dull) Calhoun wife of the late Richard Calhoun; and twin sister, Mildred (Dull) Conrath wife of the late Virgil Conrath; two sons, William T. Hechler and Reo M. Hechler.

She is survived by her son, Troy R. Hechler and wife Frances (Lynn) Hechler and granddaughter, Shaye L. Hechler of Bedford; daughter in law, Kelly S. Hechler and granddaughter Ashley S. Hechler, wife and daughter of the late William T. Hechler of Bedford; two sisters, Dotti (Dull) Long, wife of the late Ron Long of Duncansville and Joyce (Dull) Eckman, wife of Roy Eckman of Millsboro, D.E.

She is also survived by two very special nieces, Marti (Conrath) Brown of Bedford and Penni (Conrath) Vaughn of Altoona; daughters of the late Virgil and Mildred Conrath; four nephews, Michael and Adam Long, sons of Dotti (Dull) Long and the late Ron Long; Johnathon and Jordon Eckman sons of Roy and Joyce Eckman, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.

Myrtle graduated from Chestnut Ridge High School in 1961 and Nursing school in 1990 and worked as a nurse until she retired from Atrium Manor in Johnstown in 2011. She took pride in her job and loved helping people.

She loved spending time with family and friends and she enjoyed doing crafts, and quilting, as well as going antique shopping and going on many trips with her twin sister, Mildred. She loved planting flowers, and baking for her family for the Holidays. Myrtle was involved with the Lion’s club and was one of the founding members of the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church. She will be missed and loved by all who knew her.

Myrtle’s wishes were to have any contributions made to the Chestnut Ridge Independent Fellowship Church.

Per Myrtle’s request, there will be no viewing or funeral service.
