Robert Merle Yantz

 

Robert Merle Yantz, 84, of Imler and Carlisle, Pa passed away on February 20, 2019.

He was born on June 1, 1934 in Imler; son of the late Lloyd and Hazel (Imler) Yantz.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Shelda (Whysong), daughter Sherlene  Y. (Robbie) Bradbury; son Robert O. (Debora) Yantz; daughter-in-law, Tina M. Yantz; sisters, Jennie "Betty" Gates Donnelly and Bonita "Bonnie" Napoli; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by parents, Lloyd and Hazel, son, Allen M. Yantz, brother, John O. Yantz and sister, Dorothy "Dottie" Coe.

 He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Staff Sergent. After being a professional truck driver for over 50 years, he retired in 2011 to enjoy family, gardening, reading and football.

Friends and family will be received on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the J. Edward Blackburn Funeral Home, and on Sunday, Feb. 24, from 1 p.m. until the hour of the funeral service at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Reformed Church of Pavia with Pastor Tim Mock officiating.

Interment will be held at the Pavia Cemetery.

Military Rites accorded by the Fort Bedford Honor Guard.

We worked with Bob at ABF in Carlisle (many also worked with him at Interstate) and have many fond memories of times spent with him.

Bob will be missed by many at ABF and others that are connected to the trucking industry.
