Barbara J. (Dishong) Newsome, 70, of Alum Bank, went through Heaven’s gates on July 9, 2019.

She was born on Friday, August 13, 1948, In Bedford; daughter of the late Martha (Miller) and Melvin Dishong.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, John Robert; brother, Aaron; and fiancé Roy Miller.

She is survived by her son, Dustin Tingstrom and companion Robin Wareham; grandsons, Damian and Decter Tingstrom; daughter, Candy Miller and grandchildren Katie, Ernie and Kristy; brothers, Clyde, Roger and wife Linda, David and companion Kay Hodge; sisters, Juanita, Cara and husband Robert Logue, Carmen and companion Harry Evans. Also many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

Barb worked as a waitress at various restaurants in the area. She was an animal lover and her dogs were her world. She was a kind and generous soul who would go out of her way to help others and make everyone around her smile.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

A Silent Tear

Just close your eyes and you will see all the memories that you have of me. Just sit and relax and you will find I’m really still there inside your mind. Don’t cry for me now I’m gone for I am in the land of song. There is no pain, there is no fear. So dry away that silent tear. Don’t think of me in the dark and cold for here I am no longer old. I’m in that place that’s filled with love, known to you as “UP ABOVE”.
